‘Painting
with Photography on a Digital Canvas’
I have always known that I was an artist. What I did not know, was
that it would take me a lifetime to understand what that meant.
I had many skills and talents to develop. I had the responsibilities
of life to fullfill and I had relationships to develop and mature.
It is many years later now and life has finally shown me, a way
to my desire. I am an artist. And since I have chosen this path,
life has continued to bless me and I know I am going in the right
direction. My heros are Dali and Escher, along with my wife, my
son and my God.

The Digital
Art of Jerry Hanzl evolved out of his diverse backgrounds in computers
and photography, along with commercial and fine art. He was educated
at the Cooper School of Art, Control Data Institute and the Art
Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. Now after many years of learning,
Jerry tries to blend all of his skills into a medium that can
only be understood as “painting with photography on a digital
canvas."
He first appeared
on the local art scene in 2007, at a one-man show for the opening
of his ”Taylor Panels”, a historical triptych. These
panels are in the permanent collection at the Museum of History
and Natural Science in Cocoa, Fl. By 2009, Jerry had created a
collection of work which he featured in ‘Truth or Dare’
a two-artist show, at the King Center for the Performing Arts
in Melbourne, Fl. Later that year, he received national attention
when Art Business News featured him as an ‘Emerging Artist.’
To further showcase his digital creations, Jerry helped found,
Art Gallery of Viera.
Jerry is a surrealist at heart, in the spirit of Dali and Escher.
His surreal-scapes are fantasy worlds meant to be travelled through
with both the eyes and the mind.
